Academy Day 2021 will be held for any and all students, parents and school officials interested in learning more about U.S. service academies (Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines, Military/West Point, Naval) and encourage your high school students, staff, fellow counselors and parents to attend. Academy Day is an opportunity for students, parents, and school officials to ask questions and obtain information regarding the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy as well as the ROTC scholarship process. No Registration Required. Students who want to attend a prestigious U.S. Service Academy or apply for an ROTC scholarship are generally more successful when they begin planning courses and extracurricular activities early in their academic career. Please attend and encourage (middle) and high school aged students, staff, fellow counselors and parents to attend. Sunday, September 26th from 2-4pm at Bridgeport High School

Academy Days 2021
I personally apologize for the confusion provided this morning. I was told that GHS was not reporting due to lack of electric and issues with equipment. As soon as I posted that communication, I was told the decision was changed. I again apologize for this. Let’s have a great day. Update - Thank you to our head custodian, Mr. Todd, our Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Laugh and our head of maintenance, Mr. Potts, for the “early” work they had to do on this. They started at 6:00 am when when the problem was found. The bus garage needed a decision by 6:20. So at 6:20 they made the decision. Fortunately, just a couple minutes after the decision was made, the problem was found with the school and the electric company. Therefore, they were able to quickly change the decision so we did not lose a day with our students. Again I apologize. It was unfortunate timing. Thankful for the hard work the people in our county put in every day. It takes a team for sure. Luckily this was a minor situation and we can get on with the day as planned.

Hello Bearcats! I am excited to welcome you all back tomorrow. I want to remind you that we are returning to our traditional bell schedule. Therefore everyone should be in the building by 7:45. We will report to AA tomorrow. Signs are posted if you need to know your AA. School starts at 7:55. Seniors remember to bring shot records. Everyone remember to bring $5.00 locker rental fee. (This money is used for school activities and rewards.) Share this with your friends. It’s going to be a great year! See you in the morning. Mrs. Shumaker

Thank you to everyone who made our first annual block party a success. We had a great turn out and a lot of fun. Special thanks to the faculty and staff who participated, local businesses who set up and the National Guard for bringing the climbing wall. Big shout out to all the students and families who attended. (That is Mrs. Shumaker on the climbing wall. We will not discuss how far she may or may not have made it. 😬😂)
